Where is Campbell Hills Guest Ranch located?
The ranch is located in the beautiful Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada. We are about 15 min. south of Clinton.
How long does it take to get there from Vancouver?
It’s only about 370 km North-East of Vancouver. If you leave in the morning, it’s an easy day’s drive and will you will get to the ranch by the early afternoon. Most people make it in just over 5hrs. If you give yourself enough daylight, it’s a beautiful scenic drive.
How long is the flight from Vancouver to Kamloops?
The flight time from Vancouver to Kamloops is just over ½ an hour.
Airport transfers from and to the ranch @ $150 per ride max. 4p
What is the closest city?
Cache Creek and Clinton are each a 15 min drive from the ranch.
How many people does the ranch accommodate?
Our Primrose ranch house accommodates max 8 people (One family or party at a time).
Do you bring your own food?
Yes there is a fully equipped kitchen in the Primrose ranch house
Is the ranch wheelchair accessible/friendly?
The ranch would be challenging for those requiring assistance. The roads aren’t paved and there are steps into the cabins. However, we can certainly make every effort to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and provide help whenever needed.
Can someone teach me to ride a horse, even if I’ve never ridden before?
Absolutely, our experienced wranglers will take you into the arena to introduce natural horsemanship before you go out on your trail ride. Don’t worry, many of our guests come to us as absolute beginners. (We require a good balance & overall fitness level, max 220lbs)
How involved can we be with the horse’s care?
Natural horsemanship encourages building a strong relationship with your horse. We like to encourage our guests to participate as much as possible with the handling of our horses. Natural horsemanship extends to daily grooming, feeding and giving them a bath after a trail ride during hot summer days.
What is there to do in the evenings?
Our Primrose saloon has a well equipped games room/saloon. In the ranch house we have shelves full of books and a TV nook with lots of western movies. For those who enjoy their evenings outside, the deck has a beautiful river view and games like bocce ball and archery. We also have a fully stocked campfire pit with stargazing for Spring, Fall and Winter evenings.
Is there cell reception and WIFI at the ranch?
Cellphone coverage is spotty but good at the Primrose Ranch House. Satellite internet is available in the Primrose Ranch House for no extra charge.
What do you do in case of a medical emergency?
There is a hospital in Kamloops.
Does your staff have first aid experience?
Yes. Our staff is fully trained in CPR and First Aid.
What do we wear?
You will need boots with heels for the trail rides. We do have a supply of cowboy boots for rent for $2.50 a day. (Optionally helmets per day, mandatory up to 19yrs of age) We recommend comfortable jeans or long pants for horseback riding and the rest is your preference. Our guests usually keep it simple with T-shirts, shorts, running shoes and sweaters/layers for the evening.
What is the weather like?
In this part of the BC the snow sticks around until early March. April and May can be up and down. Be prepared for possible showers and/or chilly evenings. Typically it’s sunny throughout the main summer months (June, July and August until mid September) reaching temperatures of over 30°c. The Salt Water Swimming pool is open for guests from 10 am un til 5pm during these months. Our trail rides will be customized for the different weather to make sure you stay comfortable and get the most out of your guest ranch vacation.
What is Natural Horsemanship?
Our horses are living in a natural environment and are being trained in a kind, non-intimidating fashion. They show no resentment when we go get them for trail riding. They love their job, because we show them respect and work in harmony with them. We are extremely passionate about natural horsemanship, so ask us any questions!
